There's nothing quite comparable to the ghostly elegance of this once-lively town in northeastern Colorado. Originally settled by African-Americans after the Civil War, Dearfield, Colorado (Weld County) thrived and reached a population of over seven thousand before going bust in about 1940. At the moment, the human population is zero, but you'll find rabbits, scorpions, coyotes, snakes, and locusts for neighbors.
